HUNDLEY DR & SHADY SHORES RD
CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

DDM Construction Corp is delivering critical infrastructure improvements at Hundley Dr & Shady Shores Rd in Lake Dallas. Work includes new water lines, sanitary sewer lines, and storm drainage along Hundley Dr, Shady Shores Rd, and Beck Ave.

Construction is anticipated March 2026 through March 2028 and will occur in phases, so not all areas will experience construction at the same time. Updates will be posted as each phase begins.

Check below for project updates, including traffic pattern changes and construction progress.

We look forward to delivering improvements the City of Lake Dallas, its residents, and visitors can enjoy.

Contract Time Has Begun!

As you may have noticed, utility relocations have been taking place on Hundley Dr over the past couple of weeks. Starting later this week, Hundley Dr will be transitioned to one-way Westbound from Lakeview Dr to Lake Dallas Dr so that we can begin installing new water line in the area.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured around Hundley Dr via two options:

     1. Lake Dallas Dr -> I35E Frontage Rd -> Swisher Rd -> Lakeview W -> N Lakeview Dr

     2. Lake Dallas Dr -> Main St -> Thompson Dr -> S Lakeview Dr

Lake Dallas Middle School traffic may access the school via Falcon Dr or Lakeview Dr but must exit the school heading Westbound on Hundley Dr.

Due to the utility work taking place along Hundley Dr, intermittent closures will be taking place on Gotcher Ave, and a full closure on Falcon Dr starting tomorrow (3/24/2026). Below is a snip of these closures for reference!

Beck Ave Utility Work & Falcon Updates

Pending weather delays, Beck is scheduled to begin utility work on April 9, 2026. During this time, traffic will be limited to one-way around the work zone. Parking will not be allowed on Beck Ave during construction due to the limited width of the roadway.

Falcon Dr closure has been delayed due to resequencing of work. At this point in time, Falcon Dr closure has not pffocially been scheduled, but updates will follow!

Project Update - 4/28/2026

Due to weather and required phasing changes, Beck Ave utility work has been rescheduled to a later date. Notices will be sent to property owners on Beck Ave, Wildwood Dr, and Columbia Cir when this work is rescheduled.

Falcon Dr storm drainage has been installed, and Falcon Dr will remain open until road reconstruction begins at a later date.

Water line installation on Hundley Dr, from Lakeview Dr to Lake Dallas Dr, is nearing completion. Installation is expected to finish by the end of this week, pending any additional weather delays. Following installation, we will begin testing, disinfection, and tie-in/connection to the new water line. This phase is expected to take a couple of weeks.

Sanitary sewer installation from Gotcher Ave to Lake Dallas Dr is beginning this week. This work is expected to take approximately three weeks, barring any weather delays. The current traffic pattern will remain in place during this work. Hundley Dr will remain one-way westbound from Lakeview Dr to Lake Dallas Dr. Any additional traffic control closures are due to Atmos gas relocations, which are not associated with this project.

Looking ahead, Hundley Dr will be fully closed from Atchison Dr to Shady Shores Rd once school is out for summer (starting 5/26/26). This full closure is required to install the new storm drainage system beneath Hundley Dr in this section. Our goal is to fully reopen Hundley Dr to traffic in this area before the start of school (8/12/26). At a minimum, Hundley Dr will return to one-way westbound traffic when school resumes in August. We anticipate Hundley Dr will be fully restored—from Lakeview Dr to Lake Dallas Dr (including sidewalks, landscaping, etc.)—by the end of 2026.

Project Update - 5/27/2026

Water line installation is complete. We are currently performing bacteriological testing on the newly installed system. Once passing samples are received, we will begin connections and service tie-ins to the new water system. Most of this work will be performed at night to minimize disruption to residents’ daily routines as much as possible. Paper notices will be distributed alerting residents of when a water shutdown is scheduled.

Sanitary sewer installation from Gotcher Ave to Lake Dallas Dr is ongoing and nearing completion. This week, we are scheduled to begin sanitary sewer installation from Lakeview Dr to Atchison Dr.

You may have noticed concrete pipe arriving onsite. Once sanitary sewer installation is complete, we will begin installing the new underground storm sewer system along Hundley Dr from Lakeview Dr to Lake Dallas Dr. During this phase of work, Hundley Dr will be fully closed from Atchison Dr to Shady Shores Rd.

We originally planned to implement this full closure once school was out for the summer; however, the significant amount of rainfall received over the past several weeks has delayed the start of this phase. Please refer to our previous update for additional information regarding the planned reopening of Hundley Dr.

We appreciate everyone’s continued patience as we work through ongoing weather impacts and schedule delays caused by repeated rainfall events. Our crews are continuing to work wherever conditions allow in order to keep the project moving forward safely and efficiently. Until the full closure is implemented, the current detour routes shown in the section below remain active and valid.

Traffic Control Plan

The Hundley Dr & Shady Shores Rd is undergoing construction, necessitating strict traffic control measures and detours. Current detour routes utilize Swisher Rd and Main Street to bypass Eastbound Hundley. We recommend that commuters plan for an additional 5-10 minutes of travel time during peak hours. Residential and business access remains maintained throughout the work zone.
